Squad & Performance Pathway

From First Cartwheel to Competition Success

At Gymfinity, we are proud to offer opportunities for gymnasts of all ages and abilities, from their very first Pre-school class through to representing England.

Whether your child attends gymnastics for fun or demonstrates the potential to compete at a higher level, we provide a clear and supportive pathway to help them achieve their goals.

Our highly experienced coaching team works closely with gymnasts throughout their journey, monitoring progress, identifying talent, and nurturing potential. As gymnasts develop their skills, strength, and confidence, they may be invited to progress into more advanced classes or competitive programmes that best suit their individual abilities and aspirations.

We believe every gymnast should have the opportunity to reach their full potential, whether that means enjoying recreational gymnastics, mastering new skills, or striving to perform at the highest levels of the sport.

No matter where your gymnast starts, Gymfinity provides a supportive environment where they can learn, grow, and achieve.

The Gymfinity Pathway

Recreational Classes

Every gymnast begins their journey in one of our recreational classes. These sessions focus on developing fundamental gymnastics skills in a fun, safe, and motivating environment.

Gymnasts will learn:

  • Strength, flexibility and coordination
  • Core gymnastics skills
  • Confidence and resilience
  • Teamwork and discipline

For many children, recreational classes provide everything they need to enjoy gymnastics and continue progressing at their own pace.

Development and Pathway Squads

Gymnasts who demonstrate strong potential, commitment, and a positive attitude in their recreational classes may be identified by our coaching team and invited to explore our competitive pathway.

At Gymfinity, we offer a range of Pathway and Development groups in Acrobatic and Artistic Gymnastics, these are designed to suit different ages and abilities. This allows each gymnast to train in an environment that is appropriate for their current skill level while providing clear opportunities for future progression.

Our Pathway and Development Squads provide an introduction to competitive gymnastics, offering talented gymnasts the opportunity to further develop their skills in a more focused training environment.

Development Squad gymnasts benefit from:

  • Additional training opportunities
  • Increased skill development
  • Competition preparation
  • Exposure to performance-focused coaching

Gymnasts are invited to join through our trial process, ensuring that the programme is the right fit for both the gymnast and their long-term development.

Our coaches continuously monitor progress within all recreational classes, meaning every gymnast has the opportunity to be considered for progression onto the competitive pathway.

Squad Programme

Our Squad Programme is designed for gymnasts who are ready to commit to a higher level of training and competition and have progressed through our development pathway.

Squad gymnasts train multiple times per week and work towards success within regional, national, and elite performance pathways. Our programme has helped develop many National Champions and gymnasts who have gone on to represent England.

Training focuses on:

  • Advanced skill development
  • Competition performance
  • Physical preparation
  • Athlete wellbeing
  • Long-term athlete development

Our coaching team takes a holistic approach to athlete development, supporting gymnasts not only in their technical progression but also in building confidence, resilience, discipline, and a lifelong love of the sport.

Entry into our Squad Programme is by invitation, ensuring gymnasts are placed in the environment best suited to their stage of development and future goals

.

Competitive Opportunities

We believe competitions are a fantastic way for gymnasts to challenge themselves, build confidence, and celebrate their progress. Competitions aren’t just for squad gymnasts, our recreational gymnasts also have the opportunity to take part in a variety of fun and friendly competitions throughout the year.

Depending on age and ability, gymnasts may have opportunities to compete at:

  • Club Competitions: Friendly events designed to introduce gymnasts to the competition environment.
  • Regional Competitions: Events bringing together gymnasts from across the region to compete against other clubs.
  • National Pathways: For gymnasts demonstrating exceptional ability and commitment, opportunities may be available to progress through recognised national performance pathways.

England Squad Representation

Gymfinity is proud to currently have 4 gymnasts on the Acrobatics England Squad, demonstrating the strength of our coaching programme and athlete pathway.

Competition Success

Our gymnasts regularly achieve success at:

  • Regional competitions
  • National events
  • Invitational competitions

Recent stories:

NDP National Finals: In May, two of our acrobatic partnerships travelled to Stoke – on – Trent to compete at the British Finals after qualifying in first place at the North West Prelims in March. Our Grade 2 Mixed Pair, Owen and Leticia won the gold medal and were crowned British Champions and our Grade 3 Women’s Group Alice, Libby and Grace were awarded the Bronze Medal making them 3rd in Britain.

International Success in Germany: In December, our artistic team travelled to Germany to take part in a very prestigious international competition. Our gymnasts came home with countless medals and team trophies.

England Achievements: 4 of our highest-level athletes competed at the England Championships in April. JJ, Ela, Megan and Ariah performed incredible routines and both partnerships placed in 1st place, making them English Champions. All 4 of these gymnasts have also recently been selected to be on the England Squad, an amazing achievement for our gymnasts and huge moment for the club.

Progression Stories

Many of our squad gymnasts began their journey in our recreational classes before progressing through the pathway and into competitive gymnastics.

Our pathway is designed to support every gymnast’s individual journey and help them reach their full potential.

Ariah’s Story

Ariah began her gymnastics journey at Gymfinity at just 4 years old in a once-a-week pre-school class. After being spotted by our coaching team, she was invited into our development programme and has progressed through the Gymfinity pathway ever since.

Now training at the highest level within the club, Ariah dedicates over 17 hours per week to her gymnastics.

At just 9 years old, Ariah is a North West, British, and English Champion and has recently been selected for the England Squad.

Ariah’s story is a fantastic example of what can be achieved through hard work, dedication, and the opportunities available at Gymfinity. From a child’s very first gymnastics class to becoming a champion and representing England, our pathway is designed to help every gymnast reach their full potential.

Our coaching team regularly assesses gymnasts in our recreational classes, looking for potential, commitment, and a positive attitude. Gymnasts who demonstrate the skills and readiness for additional training may be invited to attend an or trial session for one of our Pathway, Development, or Squad groups.

The Squad Programme is by invitation only and is designed for gymnasts who demonstrate the potential, dedication, and commitment required for competitive gymnastics. Through hard work and progression within our programmes, gymnasts may be given the opportunity to trial for a squad group and take the next step in their gymnastics journey.

The level of commitment varies depending on the group and stage of the pathway. As gymnasts progress, they will typically train more hours each week and will be expected to attend competitions, extra training, and additional events.

We ask all gymnasts and families to demonstrate a positive attitude, regular attendance, and a commitment to their training and development.

Not at all! Many gymnasts begin their competitive journey after joining a Development Squad.

Not being selected simply means that now isn’t the right time. Every gymnast develops at their own pace, and there are many opportunities for progression as they continue to grow and develop in the sport.

Our coaches will continue to support your child’s development and monitor their progress within their current programme.
